Amazon’s Prime Membership may have just gotten a bit sweeter. WSJ is reporting that Amazon is in talks with publishers for access to all or parts of their portfolio of eBooks. If this deal comes to fruition, streaming eBooks would be a welcome added feature to not only the purchasing and delivery perks afforded Amazon Prime Members, but in addition to the recently added Prime Instant Videos already included in the membership.

The $79 annual fee Amazon Prime Membership is becoming comprehensive in it’s media offerings, and as others point out, the addition of streaming music would round off their digital offerings. Amazon’s leverage in both digital and printed book sales, makes them one of a few potential suitors that could be architects of such a deal with publishers. If Amazon cements this deal, the increase in competition would be a win for consumers, but also yet another sign of the decline of printed books.
